I have a complete 70 KH set up... My question is: are the upper and lower ball joints the same as the drum brakes as well as the upper control arm.....Also, who sells a rebuild kit for the calipers? Thx |

Are you starting with 9" or 10" drum brakes? Caliper rebuild kits are still available through normal brake parts suppliers. |

upper are the same...lower bolts are larger thats it |

I did this conversion a few years back I drilled the lower ball joint mounting holes to fit the spindle mounting bolts which were bigger but placed in teh same spot. I believe it went from 1/2 to 9/16. I hope this helps. I recomend rebuilding the calipers because they will surely have buildup in in the pistons. Hope this is helpful Richard |

I opted to get new balljoints instead of drilling the bolt holes out. That area is low on material enough as it is and I didn't have a drill press. I suppose you could do it with a hand drill but with a bit that big..... |

I bought the ball joints. The disks ball jounts were actually cheaper than the ones for drum. I have another thread going about the proportioning valve but no answers yet. Is it the same for disk and drum brakes? |

i would imagine so. the prop valve I got from summet. its an inline deveice between the master cylinder rearward line and the rear brakes. I would have bought the new bj's but I didnt have any cash at the time and as usual did the job on a shoe string and te bjs were good. I beat the po*p out of it and they didnt fall off yet, but yes, not a lot of meat there. Watch out for sticky pisotns on old KH's and thanks again Dan for the tip on the booster rebuild in portland or. |

I have got the K-H brakes on both of my early A-bodys and used the adjustable prop valve from Summit on both and works really wellasmatter o fact,my Dart stops as well or better than most of the cars I have owned and is very predictable.The biggest drawback to the K-H setup is the cost of the components. Drum brakes do no use a proportioning valve, only a simple distribution block. Proportioning valves are used only with disk brakes. |
