Post subject:  Pulling a Slant with Pushbutton T/F

Hey all, I was working on the breakdown to pull the motor and tranny out of my 62, and I noticed a few things that I'n now having trouble with.....

-There is a cable that runs from the firewall to just behind the artnny pan, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to disconnect it. Any suggestions?

-There is another cable that runs from the fire wall to the front of the transmission, and goes through a "wheel" before going into the transmission. Anyone know how to remove this?

-My rear end is modular...did they really put 8 3/4's in these things? Could I have somekind of performance/heavy duty package?

-Any other tips for this pull? All I have left is the mounts and all these connections to the tranny. Thanks.

first off-- you really need to get a FSM for your vehicle---

On the park lock mechanism---(rear of tranny cable) you will need to loosen the nut on the retainer pin thet holds the cable assembly in place---if this pin does not slide your assembly is probably stuck anyhow--- on this same assembly there is a allen head bolt-- remove it-- you will then need to place a small screw driver inside the hole & remove the spring wire that is kind of snapped/attached to the cable end. (or remove the whole assy-- & look to see how it attaches & remove said assy that way)

the shifting mechanism (the one on the front of the tranny)--- remove the neutral safety switch & once again fish a flat blade in the hole to remove the spring wire connected to your cable end. (you will have to loosen adjusting wheel in the front first)

Do not know about rears-- not sure which 62 push button car you are working on..

another option --is to leave said cables alone & split the motor/tranny & pull just the motor.. bellhousing bolts, flywheel bolts etc....

I've got a FSM coming, just waiting on it to show up. I'm pulling both because they both need a rebuild.

FYI- the car is a 62 Dart 440
