Alright guys, the time has come send the block off to the machine shop, and get my build rolling. My cylinder bores are good, so I'm just doing a clean-up hone, having the rods resized and the main taken down a touch. I'll be shaving the head and block to get the desired CR, 9.0-9.5. My cam and lifter setup came in the mail yesterday, picked up and ersons 280 cam. I am looking for suggestions for the res of this build, as far as head work (i've e-mailed MPGmike, but no responce) converter companies, and induction. I'm looking at the 2bbl aluminium intake and a set of clifford duals, that I will y-pipe into a single 2.5 back. This is all going into a 1962 Dart 440, and I'll be rebuilding the PB Torqueflight, I haven't decided on a mild/RV shift kit yet, but I probably will. This isn't my first build, I've done several SB mopars, but this is my first slant, so I figured I'd ask how deep the water is before I jumped in.

Dan, the absolute best money you can spend on a head is if you get Mike Jeffrey to do one for you. His phone is 308/324-3576. He's in Denver racing this weekend but should be home by Monday night.

Personally, I would scrap the 2bbl intake and use an Offy and 390 Holley.

For the big car, the 280 cam may be a bit big, do you know the lobe centers / overlap?

With that much cam, you will need additional additional compression and converter stall speed, what are the plans there?

lol, "big" is a relitive term, but I get what you are saying. as far as compression goes, I plan on having the block decked .100, and then using stock pistons. After I have a measurement there, I'll take off what I need to from the head to get where I need to be. At the most, I want to run mid-grade, so I don't see a CR over 10.1. As far as the converter, I'm obviously going to want to minimize converter slip at cruising speeds, So I'm thinking for a stall speed of 2200 with a 2800 flash or so...I dunno.
