Can anyone tell me where a horn is supposed to go on a 71 dart? my car came without one, and I have no idea where it's supposed to be. I don't see any loose wires anywhere. also, where is the relay? I can hear it clicking, but I can't see to locate it.

thanks!

On my '71 Swinger the horn is mounted on the radiator support (pass. side)

Mine as well, 71 duster, on the radiator core support, between the radiator and where the turn signal light is on the grill.

My '71 is also on the radiator support. There is one wire coming from a harness that also goes to the headlight.

Does anyone know how the horn grounds out? Is it through the bracket on the radiator support or is there a wire for it? My horn stopped working.

The horn grounds via its bracket to the sheetmetal on which it's mounted.

The relay in mine is behind the top of the drivers side kick panel, you need to take the kick panel out to see it I believe

Take a wire direct from +12v battery to horn terminal after disconnecting it from the harnes. If it doesn't, make sure your body grounds are good, then get a new horn. If that does work, you gotta start following the harness back.

another question for you guys....

this time regarding the relay.

the relay has four connections like this

--- ----
---

|
|

the top three contacts are being connect with some kind of factory looking harness. and the lower one has nothing connected to it (I assume that this is the wire to the horn.)

I am getting 12v out of the bottom contact when I shouldn't (when the horn isn't pressed), and no power out of it when the horn is pressed.

I assume this is why it has been unhooked since I've had the car. any ideas why this might be? the top connector looks factory, so I assumed that those connections couldn't be backwards... but perhaps they are.

any ideas?

thanks a lot.

The extra terminal is for the key-in-ignition/door-open buzzer secondary function of the '71 horn relay. You can leave it disconnected.
