While I do plan on ultimately chopping out the rust on Grover and having it redone, for now, I need some quick and easy ways to stop it from spreading. I don't have a garage, and in my neighborhood, there's a good chance that a car cover will get stolen. The paint job was redone about six or seven years ago and most of it still looks really good. It also looks like some body work was done to remove rust. But, I also think that they cheated and just used bondo because someone backed into my front left fender the other day and now that area is cracked. I'll take a magnet to that part and make sure. Anyway, to make a long story short, the rust is popping up again and in some parts, has actually eaten holes into the body. Since it rains a lot here, I'm really worried about the car turning into one giant rust spot. Help!

go to www.eastwoodco.com and do a search on "rust" , there you can find products to help slow rust progress. Rust encapsulators are a brush on product that will aid in slowing down any further rust spreading. check it out, and good luck.

They have a couple of different products so I'm not sure which one to use. In some areas, the rust is bubbling under the paint. In others, it's eaten clear through the paint and even sometimes through the metal itself.

often times when inadaquate paint prep is done, some rust was/is left on metal and primer and paint applied to the surface, the rust will slowly work its way back to the surface. I don't believe that anything can be done on the "bubbles" without removing the paint. The spots that have already been bubbled up and through can be treated with a rust "pen" search for rust brush on same site. With it you can remove small spots of the rust and then use the clear encapsulator product to minimize spreading. Rust is like cancer, without removing it, there is no cure but you can slow its progress untill proper bodywork and prep is done.

I know it's true but I hate that line, "Rust is like cancer." If I had a dollar for every time that someone said that to me, I'd have enough to get the car completely redone!
