| Post subject: | Heater Core/AC question |
HI, the heater core in my '75 duster (with AC) has been leaking onto the floor pans, and i have a couple questions on how to attack this problem. First of all i read that to replace the heater core, the AC system has to be drained too, is this true? Second, how in the heck do i get to the heater core? I know generally where it is, based on where the heater hoses hook up to the firewall, but its a fairly tight space down there, and im not sure how to get into the heater box, to get to the core. finally, the AC system doesn't work because the wire leading to the AC compressor was unhooked, i haven't reattached this because i'm afraid that it might have been unhooked for a reason by a previous owner? I don't know a lot about AC systems, so i'm not sure what i should look for to see if the system was compromised and leaked, or if reattaching and attempting to use the AC might cause a leak. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, Greg |
