Castaic Crusher?

Granny's Grenade?

Brown Drag-on?

Kalifornia Killer?

I was thinking I should've put this in the general discussion area, but I figured you'd see it better here.

MOPAR's AT THE STRIP
LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
MARCH 19-21, 2004

Car # 633
Class S/6

DIAL … 18.3 (Boy was I wrong!)
R/T … .505 (Beginners Luck)
60' … 2.316
330 … 6.944
1/8 … 10.739
MPH … 65.31
1000 … 13.965
1/4 … 16.707
MPH … 82.11

I went through the lights at around 3700 rpm. I launched at around 2500 and shifted to 2nd 3rd and 4th at around 5000. The track must have been kind of slick. They said a spun if first for around 40'. spun pretty hard in 2nd and chirped them in 3rd and 4th.

I ran 25 psi in the right rear and 28psi in the left.

The transmission is a slant 6 833 with the .309 first. The rearend is an 8 3/4. 3.23 gear open. Tires are 215 60 14 Goodrich T/A's.

The most fun I've had in 16 seconds. I gotta do this again

Mike :D

I'm still driving my Grandma's Valiant. She bought it new in '65 in Burbank CA for $2018. I still have the receipt. She used to drive me to first grade in it. In '67 we moved to Greensboro NC. The car crossed the country in the back of an Allied Moving Van.

I took my driving test at 16 in it (Nov. 1974). Went on my first date in it (Don't ask). When I got out of the Army in '83 I bought it from my Dad for $1. Drove it from NC to Los Angeles in '88. Brought both my kids home from the hospital in it. Taylor ('92) Steven ('95). Still drive it everyday.

The odometer stopped working in the 70's. Never bothered to fix it. I really have no idea how many miles it has on it. The first motor died in '86. I replaced the second one Spring 2002. It still ran fine, smoked alittle. The Original Torqueflite locked up in 2001 so I swapped in a 4 speed. Last month I FINALLY swapped out the 7 1/4 Spicer rear end for an 8 3/4. That sucker might have had a 1/2 million miles on it. The entire drive train is replaced now.

The Brown Star? just kidding...

Actually I think that's the first early Valiant I've seen in that color. Pretty cool!

I've been "At The Mercy Of The Body Shop" For a year and a half. I got my car where I wanted it mechanically an decided to get some rust issues taken care of and get a good paint job. I dissassembled the car myself and delivered it at a body shop. The guy stripped it but never did anything else. I kept callling and showing up but no success. Last week I GAVE UP. I got a flat bed and rescued my car. The guy has promised to rufund half my deposite but I'm not holding my breath. Anyway. I"m trying to get the car together for String Fling (I still have to get it painted) and Mopars at the strip. Wish me luck.
