i have an '83 truck, and the steering wheel has way too much play which just got worse, does any place rebuild these things? what is involved in doing it? the next best thing is looking for unit in better shape at the junkyard...

Have you checked the flexible disk "rag joint" connecting the two halves of the steering shaft?

Autozone has rebuilts. I bought a PS unit for my van several years ago. Or buy one from Firm Feel.
