Hey I was just looking at my tranny kickdown lever and when my truck is in drive (I have an A904 tranny) the kickdown lever hits the gear linkage thus not allowing the kickdown to work. I noticed that the kickdown lever is angled and I believe it is installed upside down, I removed the 7/16 bolt from the linkage, but I still can not remove the lever is there a pin or something that I am missing? My center console is from a 69 baracuda and this maybe the reason the linkage is hitting. Thnaks for any help Oh yeah my truck has won two trophies in a row !!! Thanks Jim

The kickdown lever should "droop" toward the oil pan flange. and hug the tranny casing fairly closely. If it is standing high it is probably upside down. There is no pin to hold it in after you loosen the bolt. If it won't come out you can use a screwdriver in the pinch slot to spread it open a bit. It should slip right off.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

Thanks, mine does drop down, but with the modifications to my truck I was looking at turning this around to clear the shifter linkage. I may have to fabercate a custom part to make the linkage clear. Thanks again Jim.
