I can't attest to the difficulty or lack of regarding the swap. However, it almost sounds as if you are confusing a shift kit with a shifter; they are two very different things. |

My '66 was a 3 on the tree when I got it. I switched it to a 904 shortly thereafter. I used a Lokar kickdown cable, Hurst shifter, had to make cooler lines and install an aftermarket cooler, and had to change the starter relay to a later unit so I could hook up the neutral switch. I already had the trans, converter, and flex plate. Crossmember and driveshaft were re-useable. |

I completely understand your situation, but just be aware: many, many of us with automatics would LOVE to switch to a 4-speed, and to think that you're effectively going to throw it all away for an auto is (for me at least) a little frustrating... But <sigh>, swapping from a manual to an auto is a cakewalk compared to swapping from an auto to a manual (at least to me). Tracking down and installing clutch linkage is the reason I'm going to try a hydraulic set-up someday. Good luck! |

I'm converting the "1967 beater Valiant" to a manual tranny, so I'd literally have the lines, linkage, etc...here soon (and two A904 Trannies- one 1979 Lockup unit...)...Too bad it's three on the tree, I'd be able to swap you the stock Auto steering column out of it...but that's OK... Darn, close but not that close.. -D.Idiot |

I'm switching from a 3-speed manual to a pushbutton auto; sorry if that causes anyone any discomfort but really, it's my own comfort I'm most concerned about. |

If this was a 4 on the floor, I wouln't touch it. I imagine those are pretty hard to find though.

Hey RDJ, not that hard to find. I have 2 complete setups I am getting ready to let go. I am swapping in a 727. I put in the A833OD's to replace the stock 3 speed, and like another correspondent am looking for comfort now that I have a hurt leg. PM me if you want a good setup, rock '64d100 |
