Anyone here have experience with Summit Racing regarding backorders?

I just ordered an AFCO aluminum radiator, but now my "expected arrival date" is July 16 (which, BTW, is two days AFTER I move across town to a new address).

Should I try to get this elsewhere, or simply call them with my new address, or what?

Signed - Concerned in Massachusetts.

I ran into that with lower ball joints for my Dakota. They send the uppers promptly but the lowers were pushed back 2 or 3 times so I ended up cancelling the order and getting some from NAPA.

I think I would call them and try to ascertain how firm the revised shipping date is. If they are really confident that the parts will indeed be delivered I would advise them of the change of address. Otherwise I would probably cancel the order and try another vendor. I really like Summit Racing and I don't believe they do what a lot of vendors do but nobody's perfect.

I've had it happen a couple of times with Summit.
They didn't charge my card till the item shipped.

As far as the address change, just contact them and let them know. I'm sure it's not a show stopper.

I had one item that was over two weeks backordered, they sent a card with info on how to cancel the order. They are pretty good about stuff like that. I just waited the part out, as it wasn't a high priority project anyway.

When you search the catalog, before you even add items to your cart theres an estimated ship date. Whenever I orderd anything that showed "Tomorrow" at that point, shipped the next day.

Summit has been my best/consistent performance supplier. I think they are a model for the whole industry.

Last year I picked up a set of the wrong heads from their Ohio location and brought them back to Canada. When I got back I found they were the wrong heads. They had the correct heads to me in 5 days and paid for shipping both ways. Class act.

Hope there's room for one more attaboy...

My brother-in-law broke a ring while assembling his 512 (440-source kit, everything else from Summit). Not even close to their fault, but they sent him a cylinder's worth of rings on their dime!

That's good old-fashioned customer service.

I figure any delays encountered are the fault of the companies they are buying the parts from, not internal.
