Post subject: | 66 Dart Seat Belt ? |
Hi All, My 66 Dart 270 has what appears to be factory seat belts-it has seat belts for the four outboard seating positions but not for the persons sitting in the middle of the seat. Is this the way the factory intended? Or has someone removed the seat belts for the center position in my car? Thanks Todd |

Thanks Sandy... I just couldn't understand why a 6 passenger car would only come with seatbelts for 4 people....now I'll be watching out for some teal colored seatbelts. Indiana has imposed a new law (effective July 1st) stating that all passengers in any vehicle must be wearing a seatbelt-regardless of make, model, etc. Todd |

'cause back then, the only reason why the automakers put seatbelts in cars in the US market at all was because there was a (2-year-new) law saying they had to. Nobody used them, and people were still quite seriously babbling about it being safer to be "thrown clear" of the car, or issuing "Brace!" commands to their families just before a crash.Quote: now I'll be watching out for some teal colored seatbelts.

There's an exemption for vehicles without seat belts factory installed, but who needs the hassle of arguing with a cop on the side of the road? It's worth noting that per IC 9-19-10-5, it's illegal to transfer (buy, sell, trade...) a 1964 or newer vehicle in Indiana unless it has at least front seatbelts.

Did you know, that in Florida, anyone inside a motor vehicle must wear a seat belt? But if you are sixteen or older, you can ride in the open bed of a pickup, as long as you are sitting down. Something wrong with that picture. |
