I'm thinking I may just keep the Dart seat with the center armrest. My only gripe is that there is ZERO legroom in the back seat, though I have a feeling the stock seat wouldn't be any better. The stock seat's frame looks to be in good shape (just surface rust and several springs are broken), though obviously, the upholstery and foam are totally obliterated. Were all the "center armrest" front bench seats the same, or were there differences over the years? Also, I'm going to closely inspect the frame and springs on the seat that's currently installed and make sure everything's good before having it reupholstered. Anywhere I can get replacement springs if any are broken, or am I stuck having to find good ones from junker seats (or welding)? |

That's why A-bodies were Mopar's Compact class...You can stick two kids under the age of 8 back there...by the time they're about 10 and up it becomes a real hassle (been there done that, beat the crap outta my brother....get's better when trying to sack-out in the fold down rear with a sleeping bag....)...Buckets are marginally better, since you eliminate the 'center' section of front seat over the hump, som some long legged fellow can let you smell his feet while you fumble for the stick shift... -D.Idiot "At least the Imperial will outclass the Chevy Caprice anyday...I've run into a few and they didn't hold up too well...." |

I must admit, now that I'm used to it, I prefer it. Up until I got back to the base today I was planning on throwing in the stock seat, but then I looked at it, looked at the center armrest on the current seat, then back to the stock seat, and thought "damn, I do like having an armrest".

To add to the argument for keeping the split back seat with the armrest.... 1. How often do you put six people in your car? 2. How high is the back of the bench? 3. Where are you going to put your right arm? 4. What are you going to pin receipts under while traveling at highway speeds with the windows down?  CJ |

Got a split bench (with arm rest) in my '86 Parisienne Station wagon. Nice addition to any vehicle. Van (with /6) has buckets with fold away arm rest. Sits high enough to actually be useful. The one in the wagon not so useful, but still works. |
