Doc. Which rear dual exhaust would work best on a stock A100 (67) van? Has a single 1920 carb, electronic ignition, cold air induction, and will run a second exhaust system on it. The stock manifold on it is cracked (of course) can you still use it for exchange? D.B. Wickstrom

If the crack is in the front section of the manifold then we can use it for the "core".

The modified factory casting is less expensive and allow use of the current exhaust system, you only need to add a new pipe for the front manifold.

My new "Dutra" casting has a better flow but this is not a big issue with the 1 BBL and "stock" SL6.
Here is a look:

I still like the look of that ;-)

But Doug, note the choke pocket on your example... just one of those 'gotchas' that people should know about.

What Max is pointing-out is that the PIC shows an early rear manifold with the 1bbl choke pocket.

I make it a point to ask people what type of intake manifold / carb. will be used with the DD system and if the answer is the "Super-Six" 2 bbl, I make sure we get the later style manifold as the "core". These have a "choke pocket" with no rear wall section to allow the 2 bbl choke to work.

I have an article coming together on all the manifolds, mounting tricks, etc. so the 3 different choke "pocket style" will be covered also.

Doug,

You have a new "universal" casting that works on the rear three cylinders, right? How much is it?

Thanks,
