Post subject:  65-66 Cuda Trim Level Q - Can't Find Answers!

We were out with the Cudas (two '66 and one '65) and working on taking pieces/parts off of one of the '66s and checking different things on all three vehicles....we noticed that the '65 Cuda has a rectangular mirror and the '66 has a round one.

Trying to do some research online, I found both '65 and '66 Cudas with both style mirrors - am figuring now that it is different trim levels? Anybody have more info there?! Okay, so I'm a nut and I just like to learn whatever I can whenever I can . . .

I also looked on the forum quite a few pages back and didn't see anything, I know it can be aggravating when every newbie asks the same questions over and over again.

Many, many thanks!

Welcome on the board. I'm guessing you're talking about sideview mirrors. They weren't standard equipment back then, they were optional. Chrysler offered two types in those years: Plain manual round for use on driver and/or passenger side, like this:

and fancy remote-control round driver side and lookalike non-remote passenger side, like this:

Rectangular ones were not genuine, though sometimes dealers or owners themselves added aftermarket mirrors rather than Chrysler-made ones. I'm a bit(!) of a stickler on details like this; rectangular mirrors on A-bodies make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. They jest ain't supposed to be there.

Thanks for the info!

If they don't belong, funny how many I found on there! Shall I rip the rectangular mirror off of the '65 Cuda in your honor?!

Besides, I'll have to go and take a closer look now and see if I can find out where it came from. Okay, I can be a little wierd that way. Many thanks again for the help!

I've seen quite a few of them too...sometimes there was a very high volume "powerhouse" dealer (or chain of dealers) in a particular area and they equipped a lot of cars in a particular way, so a lot of those cars show up in the local wrecking yards.

Naw, you should put on whatever kind of mirror is going to make you happy.

How 'bout posting a picture? One of us on here might recognise it. I've seen this Ford-type mirror (mis)placed on several Mopars over the years:

Son-of-a-gun! That's basically the same mirror that's on my 65 Dart wagon (to be replaced with a remote mirror and it's passenger side mate :D )

Just a question continuing this thread... Are the mirrors that Dan recommended at
http://moparplus.com/index.php?cPath=62 ... 07451b852b
suitable for f-bodies?

I have only the remote driver's mirror on my 77 aspen, but I am looking for a passenger mirror to match. Here's a shot of what my driver side looks like now:

I'd like to get a push-glass (non-remote) matching passenger mirror. Are those mopar plus ones correct? If not, is it off to the JY for me? :P

Nope, the F-body mirrors are different. The head shape is different, but more importantly, the base is angled and shaped differently because the sheetmetal at the top of the door where they mount is contoured differently. An A-body mirror would stick out at a bizarre (and useless) angle.

Ive noticed that my valiants all have the round mirrors but the glass diameter is smaller on some of them.
