Post subject: | Storage question? |
I just rented a garage to store my 67 Dart (I do not have one at my new house) It is an older unheated and uninsulated wood structure. The previous tenant stapled plastic all over the interior walls and the ceiling stating it was better for the car he was storing. I live in Ontario and we have weather that goes from one end of the spectrum to the other. I want to know if I should leave the plastic up or tear it down. I think the air flow with it down would be better and there would be less rusting. I was hoping to tap into your knowledge and experience. Thank You Tim |

Plastic on the concrete floor is a good idea. I'll pass on the other. |

I'll pass comment on the other! It might be a good thing on the walls etc. I don't know. A dehumidifier might be a good thing for non freezing weather. Just need a place for it to drain to. |

Unfortunatly there is no electricity in the garage so I can not put a dehumidifier in there. |

I remember reading posts (may of been on moparts?) where people put containers of dessicant in the car to keep it dry, may work in the garage as well but may have to be changed regularly to be effective. |

My Plymouth is stored an unheated garage; keep mice out and keeping it dry to prevent mildew are my main problems. I use a cotton car cover to keep dust off. I use a backet+bucket of DryRite that I empty 1/mo, and a coffee can 1/2 full of moth balls in the pass. cpt. and some mothballs under the hood. I also block off the air vents under the hood and set mouse traps near the wheels. I also have had lots of problems with gasohol going bad, so I drive outside my area to get alcohol-free gas and mix in Mystery Oil before I put the car into storage. I've had no luck with fuel stabalizers, but FreshStart (for boats) added in the spring seems to help a lot. |

I heard mice hate dryer sheets. Block off the tail pipes! |
