Got my engine back from the machine shop last week and was doing an inventory on the parts and notice that my 5 and 6 position had no weight removed. I guess what I am getting at is; is that normal? Should I weigh them before I question the shop? |

Did they polish the herring bone pattern off the front and rear seal surfaces? You should take it back and ask them to do that if they did not. The herring bone pattern is to work with the old rope style seals, and will wear out the new plastic seals. AS far as the balance goes, the numbers 5 and 6 were probably the lightest to start with, and they just made the rest the same. Sam |

i had to have a set made by venolia. F**K me. They sold me them without pins and they would not supply me with a set ether and they will not do them pin fitted ether. There is a company call Ross in Cali that will make them too. Venolia seamed like they where giving me a great deal and now I know why. I spent 480 on the positions and then a additional 250 on a set of customs pin, good luck trying to find any sitting on a shelf. I know you guy love to bash clifford but they carrie 0.080 over too but they are stock compression. [/u][/i][/b] |

Two years ago, Cox brothers told me they could make any piston you want for slant six. The would cut the ring grooves for any rings you liked, make them for any rod length, and the whole 9 yards. I never had that kind of cash to throw around, but they may still be a source if anyone is searching. Don't have the contact info handy, but I'm sure it's a search away, as they have sponsored races and provided parts in the past to racers. |

you had custom high comp made, they were pricey for me but i did track down 0.080 piston from sealed power #244np for 24$canadian, they were the biggest stock piston i could find. |

Venolia doesn't do the slant six pin size. Most guys that keep the stock pin size reuse stock pins. Since Venolia doesn't have stock pins they can't pin fit the pistons. If you're building a serious motor it's no big deal to go with floating pins. When I ordered pistons from Venolia I had the pistons made for the next smaller pin .875" so the rod wouldn't have to be bored out as much to take the pin bushing. How you spent $480 with Venolia and didn't get their pins is surprising.Charlie_S has those pistons since I abandoned my project. If he's got the receipt he can tell you what they cost. |

Charlie_S help me out a lot with my problem. He went as far as to call venolia to find out what went wrong. I will admit that Some of it was my fault, rookie mistakes. When I order them you would think that they should have told that did not have pins instead of just selling them to me. 480 with all the rings is what I payed and I live in Vegas tax is only 7.75%. This bring another question up do I need to change the ring gap or these ring a direct fit. How do I measure this to find out |
