| Post subject: | tranny coolers |
ne1 out there use a separate trans cooler to let up on the radiators duty a bit. would it help the radiator to cool the engine better? cause im running at 195/200 deg and when i get to a red light, the needle goes from 3/4 to almost the first line at "hot" on my temp guage. i live down here in los angeles and it's gets me nervous watching that guage cause i just poured in 900 bucks on a new engine thanks. pljaime@gta.net |

Fan Shroud? Bigger(more blades) fan? Good radiator? mine will go up to 185 max here in florida. beardliz@msn.com |

the engine might be getting hot because the engine is still tight. once it loosens up it should cool down a bit. I have used water wetter by redline and it works well. It lowered the temp by 5 degrees. snarl@net-change.com |

Buddy of mine wants the radiator out of my A100 because it has the tranny cooler and his big bad '57 Chevy 4x4 jacked to the max pickup needs a tranny cooler! He doesn't have room to add one and because the van rad has the cooler in the bottom he thinks it will work great! I might trade him for the one in his pickup because I have tons of room to mount a tranny cooler in the front of the van! It's not high on my list though - since he hasn't mentioned it lately! I run 2 coolers in my '71 Valiant: First, the stock lower radiator cooler, then a 4 row external oil to air cooler from an '88 Diplomat cop car. Turbo 2.2 cars have some pretty big coolers in them. Try adding one after the stock radiator cooler. I don't think leaving the radiators' cooler out of the system would have a significant effect on engine temperature. |
