It's got a high mounted starter and the bolt pattern doesn't look right. If it fits a slant maybe it a marine motor bell housing. Some of the marine setups ran the motor on its side. There is also the Clark Motor Home from the 60's that used a slant. Have your guys seen this? http://tinyurl.com/2oe8wa |

Which bolt pattern doesn't look right? The trans side? Looks to me like it was meant to drive a hydraulic pump. Most marine stuff was cast iron. Many marine bellhousings also had motor mount provisions. I know about the Clark Cortez and saw that thread. |

That housing was on the Bag a couple months ago. I would guess it fits a pump or generator.

Generators usually support one end of the generator armature with the crankshaft and have a much more open end than this thing. This is true for my 1940s 1kW Wisconsin driven generator and the 750kW Cummins V12 driven gennys at work. I still think it's meant to drive a hydraulic pump. I asked the seller for casting numbers and if they had any idea what mounted to the bellhousing, but got no reply. I did just ask Saturday though. |

I bet it is a pump bell, water pump that is.... a lot of slants were used to water fields....... I don't see any place to put a clutch arm so it ether didn't have a clutch or arm it was under the bell. |

could be a pump, a welder, or a aircraft tow, or a combine. or generator, I have even seen one used as a jet engine apu. Boat, Ferris Wheel ,Tilt a whirl, silo blower, Who knows. Thanks Ron Parker  I Think Bagel Used One For A Sugage Grinder At One Time. |
