Hello everyone,

I'm now back from Barcelona and I'm starting again the dismantling (and maybe one day rebuilding! who knows! ) process.
Here are a few pics I'd like to submit to your wise slanted minds.
I'm particularly concerned about the camshaft which seems to be way shot!
About the rod bearings : if the clearances are OK with plastigage, do you think I can reuse them or are they too worn? I think the crankshaft is ok but you can also tell me what you think seeing the pictures.
And another point on which I need your expertise : the main bearings nuts seem really stuck. I spent a lot of time trying to get them undone and... nothing... Should I keep on getting larger handles or is there something I don't know?
I also put the trans out of the car : it seems like the shaft where the torque converter is is really worn (see pictures as well), what could cause this?

as for pits it looks as if this engine was sitting for a while,the rod bearing look good, the cam looks like some fine sand paper will clean it up, the bores need to be honed with 220 grit stones,with a good cleaning and a rebiuld kit should be alright,no sense in putting engine back with old parts, especial when it looks like this is the first time this engine was apart, that is why the main bolt are stiff,there torked to 85lbs and with carbon build up makes them stiffer so us a long johnson bar.make sure everything is super clean then reassemble, good luck.

by the way, does anyone have a P/N for a good gasket set? or even better, an ebay number? What should I go for? Fel-Pro? Mr Gasket?

Looks like your fuel pump lobe is wiped?

Looks like the second lobe from right is wiped out to me?

Uhmmm, yeah...

Ok... Are you saying because it has a dent on it? I was more concerned by the rust on all the lobes but since it seems like it can be taken care of with a little sandpaper... Seems enough to you?

..."dent"? it appears to have a groove in it...

... "a little sandpaper" ? sure, as long as it's just "discolored" and not pitted should be okay..so tell us, that lobe INSN'T wiped out ?

OOOWWW I can see the metal filings in the trans picture... This is only a guess but it looks like the TC was riding dry on the shaft.

sorry never saw the deep wear on fuel pump lobe that is serious, you will need a cam if you are running a mech fuel pump
