Still a work in progress. Pulled out the the rearend and the fuel system tonight. Anyway, its a stock 70 /6 with a 87 GN turbo, intercooler, 600 holley DP and meth injection. It runs hard with 17psi but could not make a full pass because of fuel issues. Hope you can see the photos.

Thanks,

Like the setup, creative way to make it all work.

Much simplier than my plan.

Any idea on times, or hp?

That's all pretty cool. You might want to put a coolant filler and radiator cap in the splice between your two upper radiator hose sections. I have a similar radiator in mine with a similar solution for the upper hose. What kind of fueling problems are you experiencing?

I boost referenced the stock pump and it could not keep up. Where do you get a coolant filter at? I've never heard of one. Actually, the splice is where my mech temperature fitting is welded in.

What I was refering to is a small section of cast pipe with a standard radiator cap in it that will allow you to get the upper section of that hose filled. If you are using it for your temp sending unit, and you are happy with the cooling of everything, that is cool too. Several after market companies make them. I used a Moroso part number 63730 on mine.

To solve the fueling issues, I have a surge tank which is fed by the stock fuel pump. It holds about two quarts of fuel. This supplies an electric pump which is on the fender well, and feeds the fuel rail (carb in your case). It completely illiminated the lean spells created by the sudden boost induced demands for fuel. I got mine from a company that supplies parts for guys building off road Ford Broncos. In their application, they are trying to continue supplying fuel when the truck tips so far sideways the pick up gets uncovered. Do a google search on Bronco fuel surge tank, and you will likely find it. I think you might actually find it referenced somewhere here on the Forum, as I most likely got the link from a Forum member two or three years ago. Here is a link for a cheap DYI antisurge tank.http://www.geocities.com/hrayhouston/antisurgetank.html

Thanks for the info Sam. I have no problems with cooling. Interesting points on the surge tank. I've got most of the new system plumbed already. Should be done this week. Do you have any pics of your set up?

How does your methanol unit work? Home built or store bought?

Ditto on the meth injection. I bet that is crucial to gettig it to run on 17 psi of boost. I have not been able to get out of preignition yet with 8 psi of boost and a decent intercooler. Are you tracking your intake temp in any way?

I'm using a Devil's Own (DO) injection system.....looks like thay are on sale now for $185.00. Everything was included and they have a decent website for tech. I don't have a way to track my inlet temps but had knock initially and pulled timing out to a total of 16 degrees and put in colder champion RN9Y plugs. I've also been running a 50/50 mixture of 110 octane race gas and 93 octane until I get things worked out to protect the engine. Eventually, I want to run it on premium only.

The meth kit has a boost sensative switch so you can turn it on as low as 6psi. I also wired an LED into the system so I know when it comes on so I can watch the O2 gauge. Right now I'm using straight meth and hope to mess with the mixture a little later. They say to start at 50/50 (meth/water) and increase the meth to see what your engine likes. The DO kit has different injectors available depending on your application. I have a few install pics on their website. I used the stock washer bottle and mounted the pump under it in the wheel well.

I went on DO's web site, and noticed they have a more expensive universal one that has a wider range of adjustability. Did you rule this out for money reasons, or feature reasons? Do you think the features in the more expensive ones are not needed? If I can afford it, should I go for the more expensive unit, or is it a waste of money? Thanks for your opinions, and thanks for the link. It sounds like this might be just the ticket to get me out of preignition here.

I did it for pure cost. Hell, I'm running points with a MSD 7A (free) I can't steer you on the more expensive version. I was looking for an on/off system and this fit my need. Snow was more expensive so I did some looking around and decided to give these guys a try.

Sam, this is my first go at a turbo so I'm still learning. Not sure if I'm a good source for advice.
