Post subject:  Lifter galley stand pipes

Got all my oil passages drilled out, and got all the standpipe holes tapped. Question is, if i put a standpipe in the lifter galley of #1 cylinder, Won't it just make all the oil drain out the end of the block onto the timing chain? Or should i make that pipe appx. the same height as the hole that goes through the front to the timing cover?
If it does make more oil go to the timing chain is that a bad thing? Could be desirable i suppose, but im a little over my head, maybe one of you guys could advise me. My 18 year old son has fell in love with my four door valiant and im now driving my truck to work. He says the girls really love the old 66 four door lol. Now my wife and son are fighting over the convertible if and when i ever get it running. Sheesh, now i need to find me a wagon then we'll all have a Valiant! Coooool, and to think they laughed at me when i brought the first one home.........

I would set the stand-pipe at the same height as the vent hole to the t-chain. Not a big concern either way, the objective here is to keep a pool of oil around the lifters so they oil the cam lobe / contact surface well.

Thanks Doug, That was what i was planning on doing but wasnt sure. Im using 3/8 close nipples (stainless) for standpipes but wouldnt be any biggie to cut one of em off.... Thanks for the advice
