: (now 225)Valiant. Lots of effort was put
: into adjustment of the linkage by the
: previous owner. In fact, this problem led to
: the car being GIVEN to me by a coworker.
: Whether caused by sagging engine and
: transmission mounts, haphazard adjustment or
: sloppy bushings in the linkage, this binding
: is a real problem. My car had three shift
: rods: the usual two, plus an interlock rod
: (safety device).
: When I removed the interlock rod, my shifting
: problems went away. I am NOT advising you to
: do this if your car has such a device.
: However, my opinion is that if the car has
: one, it may be making your problems worse.

: rods do have sway in them. Are the rods
: suppose to be slightly loose? I would like
: to get any help on this because if it keeps
: jamming like this the shifter goes to the
