im building up my 73 duster for drifting and road couse. im needing some rather stiff suspension and i have no clue where to look for the stiffest way to make my car have little to no body roll at high speeds. if anybody has any ideas i would like to know them. thanks alot :)

subframe connectors, 6 or 8 pt cage, big diameter torsion bars (.920+), HD leaf springs de-arched or flip the front eye hanger for lower ride height

nice front sway bar, rear sway bar is not usually needed

KYB or Edelbrock shocks, you may also want to look into tubular upper control arms for a bunch of positive caster, but others have had success with stock steel arms with offset bushings

Drifting? Are you going to learn how to drive the right way first?

I would go right to 1.140" torsion bars and Koni or QA1 shocks along with the biggest front sway bar you can find. Flex-a-Form will make you custom leaf springs, but they are fiberglass and a little spendy. About 5 years ago the cheapest new leaf spring you could put under an A-body were the Mopar Performance circle track springs.

You'll need faster ratio steering and more steering angle too. Firm Feel has longer pitman and idler arms to speed up the steering, but you'll have to massage the ball joints and lower control arms to get more steering angle.

Good luck, don't wad up the car 1st time out. Remember, you can't race a wreck.

Im going to argue that stiffening the springs rates much beyond stock will lose you more than you gain unless you are on perfect pavement.

Go with the largest tires you can fit on the car and quality shocks all around. Add a large/good swaybar to the front. Lower the car 1"-2"all around.


If you stiffen the spring rate excessively (1.140 bars) without adding stiffness to the unitbody(cage/subframe connectors) your car will slowly come apart.......and the thing will plow. Lou s car with .920 bars ís a little stiff for my taste.......

Best money spent : shocks and sway bar.

A stock differential is completely unsuitable for drifting btw. Reason why those japanese tuner cars are so good for drifting is because they come with an limited slip diff. You might have more fun learning to drift in a nissan 240 or corolla ae86-88 if your really serious. Plus its a bit less nerve racking to know that modern imports are alot cheaper/less desirable.
