Post subject:  Cam oiling groove ??

I have one the Erson cams with the mis-drilled oiling hole and decided to groove the rear cam journal to get as much oil to the top as possible. In Docs "Twiggy" post he suggested a .020x.020 groove. My question is what is the best way to cut this groove ?
Can it be done by hand or does it need to be done on a lathe?
Thanks in advance.

You can do it by hand but it is best to use a bearing, slid 1/2 way onto the journal, as a guide. Wrap some tape on the other side of the exposed journal so it leaves an exposed gap to cut (grind) your groove in.

Do you do it with a file or can you use an air powered cut off wheel?

For this job, I use my variable speed Dremal tool with a small abrasive "cut-off" wheel.
I find that my air powered die grinder and "wizzer wheel" is too aggressive for the job.
