Just got this from a friend of mine who's a service writer: === We have now had two vehicles come into our department with extensive wiring harness damage. Both of these vehicles had a replacement 15 amp fuse instead of the GM fuse. The fuse does NOT "pop" causing the wiring harness to catch fire. The fuse has a clear, hard plastic blue body with the amperage stamped into the top there is no white paint on the fuse. There are no identifying marks on the fuse to tell who is making it. The fuse is distributed by Harbor Freight, I attached a picture of the box of fuses. Your dealers should look out to make sure that suspect wiring problems are not caused by these defective aftermarket fuses. The 15 amp fuse on this particular truck did not "pop" even at 50 amps. The fuse in the second picture still tests "good" even after a direct short across the battery. We tested six of these fuses and none of them pop. === ![]()

What are the "Known-good" fuse brands? |

Buss or Littelfuse. But even buying those brands, you have to be careful and pay attention to what you're installing, because more and more formerly-good product lines are being outsourced to China Anyone else on here remember when we used to make stuff? |

So those aren't even fuses? Maybe they think they fixed the problem of blown fuses. I have seen glass chinese fuses that are defective at the other end of the scale as well. They are not burned but lose the connection inside the metal end caps. I have since only used Littlefuse branded fuses, which they sell at most auto parts stores. |

yet another crappy product bought from harbor freight. I can't say I am surprised, no one I know has ever gotten a good product from them. |

What do you expect for buying products that are significantly cheaper then the norm? Once saw NOS fuses on ebay, was a box of like 100 for dealer service. |

Littlefuse used to have a plant down by my parents. I think it has been gone a few years. IIRC, it moved to Georgia or somewhere down South. |

I keep blowing the cooling fan fuse in my non-Mopar. I kept replacing with a "parts store" brand. Finally I pulled a bunch of eom fuses from a junked car and my problem went away. |

Wonder if Harbor Freight will apologize to the Chinese for the crappy quality like Mattel did? |
