Howdy, What years were this option available? I've had no luck (due certainly to little computer research skill) at finding this info. |

Power tailgate glass was optional from the very start of slant-6 cars in 1960. Standard equipment was a manual crank. |

Thanks Dan, that helps. Do you also know if there were pertinent motor changes along the way? In other words, what years may I consider for a back-up motor for my '62? |

Good question. FPCs show '60 with a unique part number, '61-'62 using another part number, and '63+ using another part number yet. Your 100% safest bet is '61-'62, can probably make a '60 motor work rather easily, and things might get difficult attempting to use a '63 or later motor. Is yours gone, or just dead? They can be rebuilt... |

Thanks yet again. Yeah, lots of the '61 & '62 parts were indeed transitional. No problem with mine at this point. I long ago learned to keep a supply of the "harder to find" parts for the cars I prefer to drive on the shelf and I recently decided to maintain the electric window rather than eventually convert to the more common crank. So a spot of shopping is in order for a decent (or at least rebuildable) motor as I can manage the mechanism myself. I'm assuming I'll still need to get creative for guide trough materials, seals and such. |
