who here has experience with the hooker duals? what are the pro/cons? I heard from a few people they are still available but I can't seem to find them anyplace, all I ever found was 6 into 1. I am used to running clifford longs but I heard they aren't available anymore, and I am leary of waiting forever for a set of shorties. |

Hookers will not clear a power brake booster on an A-body (67-76), nor will they fit an early A. Some have also had problems on a manual trans with clutch linkage clearance. They are pricey. I believe Summit still lists them, but they may be spec order. I had a set of standar Hookers that I sold to Mike J last year. I still have a set of Super Comps laying down in the shop that I will use someday. ![]() |

what are the differences between standard and super comp? are they both available for the slant? (I have a 75 duster, standard everything with no air) I saw a link awhile back selling them for like $450. ouch. |

I have a set that I paid pretty healthy for. They are going for $439.95 through summit. Ceramic sets are close to $700 ![]() ![]() Mine havent been bolted on yet as Im using the mp 6x1. I really like that piece actually. I may use my set someday as well...They appear well constructed though. |

Mine weren't too hard to fit. I have 3 on the tree. It is tight around the clutch rod. I might have had to ding them a little to clear the Z bar. The column linkage hung on one of the collectors. Replacing the bushings and flipping one of the adjusters fixed that. I don't have power brakes but would like too. If you would like I can get the part number from the header flange. Mine have the heat riser tube with a plate that bolts to the bottom of the intake. You can run a stock starter with plenty of clearance. I opted for a mini. |

Super Comps have larger tubes. I am not sure if they still sell both sets. |

The super comps I have used on v-8s were also quite a bit lighter. They are more specific to certain applications and are really designed for more serious performance, not for street cars with mostly stock engines. When there might be one part number for a given engine in several chassis in the comp version, there might be several numbers for each chassis in the super comp. The ones I have used fit well too, the normal comps, not so well. |

how do the hooker headers compare to dutra and cliffords? Performance wise? |

the going thinking is cliffords are worth a tenth in the quarter mile over the dutras. As far as pure HP numbers I am not aware of those. I don't know the comparison numbers between hookers vs. cliffords or hookers vs. dutras. Doc might know. he has done extensive work on these (dutras are his creation). I think dennis (slantzilla) has raced cliffords and hookers, so he might know....... |

I don't know for sure, but I do know that mopar has been seriously dropping off the availability of slant six stuff in recent years. |

Not from Mopar. They were built by J&R, they may still offer them. ![]() One thing you have to remember, the farther from stock your engine is, the wider the spread will be between long headers, short headers, and Dutra Duals, especially if you start turning over 5000 rpm. I finally got all the pieces of my Cliffords back, and now US41 is closed because of a family fued. I was hoping to get out there and do some back to back testing with the DD's and Cliffords. Hookers will not fit in my chassis. |
