I have a '72 A-body, power steering, and the outer tread is balding on both front tires. The passenger side is worn a little more than the driver but still both are bald only on the outside of the tire. So what i am asking is : 1) How/where can I fix it? 2) Can I do it myself? 3) tHANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! -Angelo |

It's a little unusual for the tires to wear on the outside; it's more common for the inside edges to wear. What you have is excessive camber which is the tilt of the wheel from true verticle. The tops of your wheels are leaning out a bit (positive camber ). You need to take it to an alignment shop and get it corrected. While there they should check for worn or damaged parts as well. The natural tendency is for the front end to develop more negative camber as parts wear so your positive camber could be masking some more serious issues. When selecting a shop be sure you find someone who is familiar with the ancient Mopar torsion bar suspension if possible. |

While this is too much positive camber, one thing to keep in mind is how much camber is "correct" for your car depends on how you drive it. If you're an aggressive corner burner, you may need to have an alignment shop dial in more negative camber than what the specs call for. |

$50-100 depending on the shop you go to. I'd look for an independent shop myself. The chains probably won't have a clue what to do with your car anyway. |
