Went to Gainesville Raceway, tonight. Nice fellow came over and was talking to me about my Valiant. He then proceded to tell me about the slant six Dart, that ran there a few times last year. Three stages of nitrous and running 8's in the quarter.

Charlie,

I guess the guy forgot to mention the car was originally a slant car, but now sports a 500" Indy headed Max block, with 3 stages of N2O.

He was very insistant, that it was still slant powered.

I bet it was one o' them factory 383 Max Wedge Tri-Power Hemi Slant-6s with Posi-Traction. Y'know, I had one o' them in a '63 Baccaruda with the factory 4-speed. It was a 9-passenger station wagon, an' nobody suspected it until I blew 'em away! I remember it like it was yesterday.

 , that was good.

Sure it wasn't the "Toadaruda" 9 seater? Those earlier years are easy to mix up ya know.

So what is the quickest slant then? If you can spray a 14 second slant into the 12s whats the next step, forced induction?

Quickest Slant doorslammer is Drake's Simca - 9.85 @ 132 MPH (turbo). Two other cars have been in the 9.90s - Myers' Arrow and Cox's Dart (both nitrous).

My guess is that Dale Rose will set a new low ET in the next year (supercharged), IF the Drakes don't do it first.

If Cameron Tilley put his turbo motor in something like Dale's car, I believe it could go in the 8s.

I have a buddy who swears there used to be a guy here with a Colt that had a turbo Slant that ran 9's back in the 70's. I like the guy, but I think he is mistooken.

Hell Charlie, tell the guy to drag it on out. You'd think with a car of that caliber he'd be proud to show it off.

I always move to the side of my car when guys like that are talking. It keeps the warm piss off my leg.

It had no comparsion to my 1961 plymouth duster 500 r/t station wagon with it's 408 max wedge six pack and factory hemi 4 speed with dana 60 rear, it's 5.38 gears were so hard to deal with the street I had to sell it...but it did run 7.90's on street rubber...lmao 8)

Thats a typical story like you'd hear at our local drags.... would you like to hear the chevy guys version....lol??????

"Oh yeah, back in the day I had a baldwin motion '69 camaro with a factory ordered aluminum 427 punched out to a 505. I cracked the block so many times passing those hemi cars going into 2nd gear pulling the wheels on street tires with the a/c on.... lolololololololahahahah
