Are the vacuum advance canister and governor the same in a V8 and /6 distributor? I had them side by side today and they sure look the same.

The parts will interchange from slant to small block, but the advance is more on the V-8

Don't forget to notice which way the distributor rotates, V8 A and B/RB blocks are opposite.

I have switched parts from the small block v-8 to the slant distributors. I was trying to get more vacuum advance on the slant. The vacuum advance pot comes in from the lower left side on both .

All electronic Governors are the same on slant sixes and v-8, but you will have to change the reluctor to a 6 point. They are available though parts stores. The reverse model vacuum advance distributors still have a usable governor, but v-8 governors frequently have slots to allow greater than desired advance for a slant six. It is possible to partially fill the slots to the desired size and that information is articled elsewhere on this website.
