Does anyone know where I can get the Valve cover decals for an early 225, and maybe the air cleaner decals too? Thank. -Jesse |

Please be more specific. Which exact decals are you after? |

I don't remember any decal for the valve cover. Of course, that doesn't mean they didn't exist. |

Early '60 Valiants had a decal with "Valiant" text on a black field followed by the 2-colour stylised "V" logo on a white circle. This same decal is visible on the air cleaner in some of the factory's Hyper-Pak engine test photos. '60 Plymouths had a "30-D Economy Six" valve cover decal. Air cleaner decals: 225-equipped Plymouths got "Super 225" and Dodges got "Charger 225" from late '62 or early '63 through '68 or '69 (by plant). There was also a red-on-yellow air cleaner service instruction decal, and sometimes a "Use genuine Chrysler parts" decal is encountered. Many of these decals are available as reproductions. |

Sorry I wasnt more specific here, yes dan the early sticker you just listed is the one I'm interested in. Actually the pics of Hyper Paks is where I first saw this decal, I thought it looked pretty cool even if it wouldn't be correct for my '62. Dan would you happen to know if these are bein reproduced? Thanks again. -Jesse |

Somebody reproduced them several years ago, but for the life of me I cannot remember who. I do have most of my inbound and outbound e-mail since 2000 archived; I will search through it for the word "decals" and see if I can turn up the source. |

Maybe Phoenix Graffix? If you get one from Year 1 it will cost you $12 for shipping and handling |

It was not any of the reproduction parts or graphics/decals/stripes places, it was an individual who reproduced them. |

With a good clear picture most any vinyl graphics shop should be able to do it. |

I found my "Valiant" valve cover decal. Can't find the name of the guy who got it, but I've scanned it in at 400dpi. It's actually pretty sloppy. My partner's a graphic designer; I'll see if I can get him to either clean up this one for printing or recreate it for us from scratch. Please stay tuned. |

my scanner scans at 19200 I used it to scan eveything. when you do it that high it makes a huge file, but I can convert those files to cad files now it makes programming cnc files a breeze for highly detailed parts I need to copy. |

For our purposes, 400dpi was more than plenty...I'm tryna make a valve cover decal here, not a 10-by-6-foot poster for my wall! Anyhow, the scan-in was just a guide. My partner recreated the decal perfectly, with a round circle, sharp text in the correct font, and the stylised-V emblem drawn correctly. Today I transmitted the artwork to the decal company, who are going to piggyback this decal order onto the next large heatproof decal order they get from e.g. a fireplace manufacturer, so as to prevent the cost being stratospheric. We don't know exactly when these decals will happen, but they will happen sooner than later. |

Any chance of a sneak peak or is it like looking for your presents before Christmas? (which I don't do) How many are you getting printed? It sounds like something I'd be interested in for all my Northern /6 buddies. |

Yeah, it's like shaking yer Exmas presents, but here's a low-res preview:Quote: How many are you getting printed?
Two. One's going on my wall and one's going on my dashboard. Just kidding. I don't know maybe a hundred. Enough to go around. Quote: It sounds like something I'd be interested in for all my Northern /6 buddies.
Well, it's not the only decal idea I've been playing around with. Perhaps you've noticed that you can get all kinds of reproduction "MOPAR" underhood decals, but not the "CHRYCO" ones that came on Canadian Valiants. I'll see how the Valiant decal comes out, then maybe look at doing a small run of these: |
