Can anyone tell me if the slant six ever had a "clutch" or "thermal" fan. Is there any real advantage to installing one of these on my slant six ? julie-roth@woz.org |

You can also find them on some Slant 6 trucks in the 1980's through 1987 if they had the heavy duty cooling option. : : Is there any real advantage to installing one : of these on my slant six ? I don't know what advantages they might have. I'm wondering that myself and hoping someone will tell us. All I know is I have a few used clutch fans and the clutches on every one of them are kaput and do not engage when hot, they still freewheel. The only advantage of a clutch fan is that it freewheels at low engine temp, allowing the engine to warm up quicker, and the probably freewheel (or slip) a bit at higher RPM, freeing up some HP. I have never tried one, I have just gone directly to electric fans. Lou |

Been thinking about going electric puller with no fan on the motor but not sure how well it will work Thanks mopar.mopar@gte.net |

I run a puller on the '68 and pusher on the '64. I basically don't use them on the highway unless it's really hot, or I'm going up a big hill. Your running temps will be a bit higher than with a mechanical fan, but I believe that 200-210F is fine. No drag on the engine, except for a little from the alternator. I have a recored 2-core radiator in the '68 and an old (but rodded out) 3-core in the '64. Take 'er easy, Lou |
