Any universal plate system will work. Just get the plate to match the carb you are running. Or you can build your own fogger system, using a stock or aftermarket manifold. There are also companies out there, that will build the system, using your manifold. Slantzilla and I have a plate system on our Valiants. I have a fogger on a stock manifold on my Cuda. Doc has a small fogger on a 1 bbl carb. Threre are many other nitrous cars out there.

Welcome to the board Tim. :D

Nitrous is not "Plug and Play". Before I ever turned the bottle on I spent a lot of time watching other people and learning what not to do, and why.

Nitrous is my favorite for a power adder. Used judiciously it is extremely safe, but if something goes wrong, it will go wrong fast. Trouble is, the hit is as addicting as dope, and if you don't really watch yourself you get to the point where too much is not enough. That's when things go bad.

I am really thinking about going in this direction with our slant. I am keeping AC on the car and do not want too go too big with the cam, but will be trying to get all I can out of the head and am going to run an offy intake with headers. A 2400 stall and 3.21 - 3.55 are in the plan.
It seemed to me at first that a fogger system with 6 nozzles would be the only way to go, but I have been looking at the ZEX plate that squirts around the perimeter. Any thoughts about this? I am thinking a 75 horse shot will be the max. It looks like this could turn into a setup with a small fuel cell and separate pump as things evolve

The Zex plate is a gimmick. Personally, just a regular NOS plate system is the way to go if you're not gonna fog.

At 75 horse you will not need a separate cell, but you will need to take timing out and have good gas in it when you spray. You should be able to get away with 93 on a 75 shot.

any chance you need a small input 2500 converter. I have one with about 200 miles on it. :D

That won't be the right converter for our car. I'm just going to get one made by midwest when I finalize my plans. Honestly, I'd never put a used converter on a new trans without having it gone thru, it's just not worth it.

Slantzilla, thanks for the input. Any thoughts on the Edelbrock systems? The performer is made for 50,75 or 100 hp. I really have not looked at them in person and have no idea if the parts are cheap or the system is just priced lower than NOS. Maybe the solenoids are smaller. I'll spend what I need to, but would rather not spend on a name, if thats the case.

One thing I have noticed with my brief and speratic attention being paid to the nitrous subject is that higher octane fuel seems to go hand in hand with its use. It makes sence that high octane is needed because the cylinder pressures climb with the hit of a button. But dosen't the cooling effect of the charge and the added fuel negate the need for the higher octane? ( or maybe with out those effects you'd need an ungodly amount of octane) I've been hold that the nice thing about nitrous is it can be used on any compression ratio. Does this just mean that a high compresson motor using nitrous will just need that much more octane?

I ve also heard it is almost "Plug and Play". Pick your shot and the right nosels come with it. Add a fuel pressure switch for safety cut out and your basicly done.
Ohh.. and back the timing up 5*-6*s.

Can you tell. I haven't studied the subject much. :D

The Edelbrock system will work well, but probably will have smaller solenoids. My Top Gun kit had solenoids that were smaller than the one that came on my NOS purge kit.

That's not a big issue if you are not going to be spraying all the time though.

Bren, the cooling effect only takes you so far. After the fire lights, the cooling effect goes out the window. I never spray without at least a 50-50 mix of 93 and 100 in the tank, but many people do spray up to 150 on 93. You just have to watch your tune-up closely.

The lower HP kits are kinda "Plug and Play", but they still need some attention. General rule of thumb is to take out 2* for every 50 shot you are using. I always make sure to keep fuel pressure regulated to 5.5 by my flow gauge. (I have a special gauge tool that is only used on the fuel side of the nitrous)

I do not run a pressure switch, but I do have a fuel pressure gauge mounted right in my line of vision. I have been told by a premier NOS dealer that the pressure switch can create as much damage as is prevents because it can "spike" the pressure at the hit, causing a lean-out. I am sure that at 100 horse this would not be an issue though. He regularly sprays 350+ shots, and bad things happen fast then.

The main things to remember:

1. Check timing.
2. 2 steps colder plugs.
3. Use as good of fuel as you can.
4. Maintain fuel pressure that your kit calls for.
5. If it's not running right shut if off and see why. Nitrous motors do not "fix" themselves with more spray.
