PostPosted: Wed Jul 25, 2001 5:38 am
i know this is weird, BUT if i want to put block hardener in the block, but still retain somekind of waterpassages in it, what would be the best thing to use? you know i would like to strengten the block in the cylinder area, and have small water circulation inside the block...

any ideas?

There is some info. on this subject in the SL6 Block article. Mostly at the end of the story. http://www.slantsix.org/articles/dutra-blocks/slant-blocks.htm

Just don't fill it all the way to the top and use clay or wax to keep the filler out of the waterpump enty area. I have filled blocks about 1/3 the way and cooling does not seem to suffer at all.

is the block weaker in the bottom?

i would think that there is more pressure in the combustion area, but in the lower part the piston is trying to do more of sideways movement...well thanks! i have to try this....
