Anyone know the approximate weight of a slant-6? I just purchased a 225 and need to purchase an engine stand. |

It's not the weight that's the big concern, but the length of the engine and the center of gravity. I had a slant take a dive because the engine stand was too tall and narrow. Since it appears to me you can't buy anything other than a Chinese engine stand you might as well get one of the better ones. I have this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... umber=4420 Very stable. You can spend less, but it's not that much money in the grand scheme. Check Craigslist too. You may find a good stand cheap or at least pay less for a cheapie. |

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this list but according to it, the weight of a fully dressed slant 6 is 525 lb. http://www.mopar1.us/engineweight.html I believe that I read somewhere else that it was around 500 lb. |

Thanks, Guys. The tip-over issue is a good thing to consider. |

With manifolds and everything 525 is prolly a good number.http://www.mopar1.us/engineweight.html I believe that I read somewhere else that it was around 500 lb. Make sure to get a two legged base. The "T" bases with one leg up the middle like to fall over when you push them around. |

I have two if them with a T base. I always take extra care when moving them around. I usually try to pull them by the front of the engine so that I can help to stabilize the weight. I'll be very happy when I can get the block off the stand in into the car. |
