Hi Everyone, not a regular here, I usually frequent Abodiesonly, but they seem to be down today. I have a 71 Scamp 225 i bought last Feb. for restoration. The right rear taillight sockets were rusted out from a leak, so they haven't worked since i have had it. I finally found a wiring harness and spliced in the right rear sockets, and they work. Hooray Now, that is just a small part of the issue, don't know if the rusted out sockets were causing this but here is the rest of the issue. The dash lights have never worked. the fuel gauge worked for a bit and now is not, the Temp Gauge has never worked since i have had it. When I turn the headlights on, they work, the dome light works when you turn the switch on. When i do turn the headlight switch to park lights or the headlights, both turn signal lights turn on and stay on. They do not blink when i use the turn signals, but the turn signals work when you use them. but they do blink slow when i turn the flashers on. with out the headlights on the turn signals work and the flashers blink normally. I have had the dash off and replaced the Limiter, the fuel gauge worked for a bit, now stopped. the traces on the inst cluster all look ok. I would blow the tail light fuse every now and then. i think i traced that to a loose fuse panel bolt, it looks like if you hit a bump just right it would hit the side of the dash and short. it hasn't happened since i have fixed it. Does anyone have any ideas on the inst. cluster issue, could it be internal or possible a bad pin. If so, how can i check? Thanks |

Welcome to the board. It sounds to me as if your car has major loss-of-ground problems at multiple points in the wiring harness. This is going to take a fair bit of time and good technique with a quality multimeter to chase down, I'm afraid ![]() |
