I only have 2 accessories to drive, the water pump and alt. I'm thinking of converting to serpentine for the alternator but few things came up. If the water pump is the only thing driven off the dampner, will a tensioner need to be added or is getting the right sized belt good enough? I thought I remember seeing pix of a motor like this in a magazine (Doc's?) but that may of been for dyno purposes only not a street engine. If the belt was removed from the damper completely, would the damper still effectively dampen without having the load of a belt on the outer ring? Also, if anyone has the pix of Super6's serpentine setup can you repost them? The pix in the links in past posts are all gone. |

A damper will work properly with or without belts. Yes, you can drive just the water pump if you want. Loosen the w/p pulley bolts and install a shorter belt with the pulley drooping, then tighten the bolts. |

Good to hear... any idea what size belt it is? Last time I measured a belt and went to go get one, turns out I needed 2-3 sizes bigger. |

Prolly the easiest thing to do is cut an old belt to use as a guide, and get a new belt 1/2" shorter than the length of your guide. It will end up shorter because you can't pull the guide tight enough to make up for tension. |
