Hello, does anyone know if the dash cluster from a '67 - '69 Barracuda will fit into my 70 dart? It looks comparable and I like the look of them... Here is a link to what I'm looking at FYI. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... =p3907.m29 Thanks! |

Several years ago I had a 70 Dart and tried the same swap as you're considering. It's not a bolt in and go type swap. You will have to do a lot of cutting/fitting on the metal dash of your 70 to even get the 68 cluster to fit and look correct. Then you have to worry about the wiring as your Dart wiring is not the same as the plug in connectors on the 68 dash. . The easiest way to swap would be to use the metal dash from the 68 parts car and swap it into your 70. I'm getting ready to do a similar swap: swapping a 66 Barracuda Formula S complete dash into a 65 Dart wagon and using the 66 wiring harness to make life easier. |

Thanks for the info. I wasn't wedded to the idea, I just thought if it would drop in it would be worth a try! RC |

65 Dartman's idea is a good one. That is what I did on my '70 Dart. I installed a Baracuda Dash, theryby making it look pretty much like the Ralley cluster dash. There are a few minor cosmetic differences which you can deal with, or just leave, such as the location of the e- flasher switch. The wiring differences are not that hard to deal with, if you can get at least the round connectors that go with the Barracud/ralley dash. The connectors on your dart are flat, and there are two of them, but the wire colors are the same, and it is easy to get the wires out of your stock dash harness ends and slip them into the correct connectors for the ralley dash. I picked up a trash harness just for the connectors. It helps to have the Factory Service Manual so you can verify the locations for each color of wire on the round connector. It did not take long at all to switch the harness wires out of the flat connectors and slide them into the round one. When I hooked everything up, it all worked the first time. Sam |
