I am trying to remove the power steering box to replace it with a manual one. The problem is the bolts don't have a standard head it looks like some kind of external torx. Can someone tell me exactly what kind of socket to get to remove these bolts.

Try a 12 point socket.

Thanks Fellas. I will have to go out and get one since all of my sockets are 6 point. Actually I can probably borrow one from my brother in law.

Ok I got the manual box in. You guys were right as usual it is indeed a 1/2" 12 point socket to remove the bolts holding the box to the K-frame. Thanks. luckily I was able to borrow one from work as well as our 3/4" drive socket set, I guess some times it IS beneficial to have a job. Just FYI the nut holding the pitman arm to the steering box is 1 5/16". The Mancini steering adapter though pricy ($131.11 shipped) is definitely easy way to go for the power steering to manual steering swap.

It is going to take time to get used to the added steering effort on turns and it seems much slower returning to center after a turn. On the plus side it really added some top end power. There is a section of road that I use for my test strip. I usually shift to second at 5000rpm and 4800 into third, today it pulled right past 5000 and I actually shifted at 5300rpm into second and 5000rpm to third. Normally I can get to about 82-83 mph to the over pass today I hit 87mph. I cant wait to get to the strip and see how much quicker it is now!!
