A short while ago I was looking for help on a 727 that wouldn't let me go forward or backward. Pulled it out again Tuesday...you wouldn't think the fault would happen...the front drum had the flat end piece completely sheared off the band part!!

It looked like a coffee can section that had the lid cut out. Slant power! Popped in a good used drum and took the time to add in some kevlar and then...success. Pulling away from a red light both big positraction fed tires spun nicely and the old slant slipped right up to 5,000 before I even realized it.

Now I see the speedo is not moving. Can I pull the speedo gear and housing without draining the trans?

Thanks

Glad to here you got the truck back up and running Rock 8) 8) .As far as the speedo gear goes,if you lift the truck from the rear you will lose minimal if any fluid.

Agreed- lift the driver's side rear and you'll only lose a few spoonfuls of fluid. It helps to idle the car in neutral for 2-3 minutes right before you jack it up- makes sure all the fluid's up in the convertor.

Be sure you put the pinion holder in "clocked" at the right orientation for the number of teeth on the pinion you're using.
