Doug, I don't recall seeing anything about weight of your manifolds. I'm wondering if there's any weight savings, using both Dutra front and rear, as compared to stock exhaust manifold. Roger GTS225@aol.com |

Should weigh slightly more than a stock manifold I am guessing. Since it has another exhaust outlit casted on to the manifold. Im thinking around 5 pounds more sound right? But with benifit from opening up the exhaust I would think the added wieght is no biggie? I also have a question on how it sounds Doug. A guy at a local show told me it sounds great gives the 6 a nice clapping sound just like an 8. Is this true? Right now I am running a stock exhaust manifold going into a Y splitter to create dual exhaust with 2 glass pack mufflers. It sounds nice and deep but more like a drone sound. I am looking for more of a clapping sound. SO anyone got an extra set for sale? Quote:

Truth is that these are thick-wall and pretty heavy, 16 lbs each last time I checked. Needless to say that I wanted my manifolds to last longer then the SL6 engine itself! DD |

I don't know how much the weight of the Dutra casting is, if its more or less than the modified factory manifol, but I don't think its a big difference. I think the Dutra casting would flow a litle better. I've been thinking of getting another Dutra casting for the rear three cylinders of my slant. The modified factory manifold is okay, but honestly, I think a pair of Dutra manifolds would look cooler. I would lose carb heat, but here in Texas, its hot most of the time. I'll post if and when I get a second Dutra manifold. Wes '78 Volare wes.moeller@compaq.com |
