Hey Folks,

Just got back to the house from Bristol Motor Speedway (Thunder Valley 1/4 mile).

No huge surprises, but lots of fun had by all. 14 cars showed and 13 made eliminations. Beautiful weather! I believe we have a new champion from the Western states...

Norm Foster took Ron Parker in the finals in a close race. Semifinals were Brian Mimken vs. Norm Foster and Lou Madsen vs. Ron Parker.

Rodney advanced to the 2nd round, but blew a head gasket and was out for the rest of the race. Larry Chesney had a semi big motor problem on Sat and was out for Sunday.

I got my first bye run after winning over Barry H in rnd 1. Lost to Ron P in the semis. Couldn't make it to the track until Sat eve and had a fun dinner and lip flappin' with the Drakes and Paul Moran and others before camping out at the far end of the track (dark) with Paul.

Congrats to Norm on the win and to all for a great race!

Just arrived home from the track. I had a blast the last 2 days!! Bristol is a first class track, I highly recommend it for anyone that hasn't been.

Even though I gave away my semifinal to Norm via a redlight  , I thoroughly enjoyed the racing and socializing. I'm not sure how I'll end up in the points, but I am planning on attending the banquet this winter if it is still going to be held in Pigeon Forge, TN.

I also sold my 74 Dart literally right after I pulled in my pits after losing in the semis  Not to worry, I've got a 74 Duster sitting in the yard smiling at me now

Paul, I really enjoyed meeting up with you and look forward to seeing you at the track again!

Post subject:  Good times!

Made it home around 9 am today. No problems, but that motor is getting pretty tired. I don't think it would endure another trip like that. Good thing it won't need to.

Well, if you don't count the .003 red light in the first round, then I couldn't have asked for a better time.

Got to meet Brian and Mike who are great guys to talk racing and sixes with. Also glad to see Lou do so well in his own car this time. Too many other names to mention, but I count them all as friends.

Ma and Pa Drake rode in the aspen with me to dinner an Saturday and we had a great time as we all got lost looking for a place to talk racing.

Special thanks to Ron Parker for putting up some $$ for me to enter in the sportsman class and get a couple of extra runs. Lots of fun until I went out in the 3rd round due to a double breakout.

We all want to win every race, but I wouldn't trade a win for the great memories and time with friends that always ends too soon. I had a great year and am very close to holding on to a position in the top 10 for my first time. Already looking forward to next year.

Congrats to Norm on winning the race! From the postings, it appears there was a good turnout and it was a good race. Sorry we didn't make it. We had the car ready and we were planning to drive over Saturday morning... but my Mother got sick and we ended up spending Saturday in the ER, instead. After she had spent the day at the hospital there was no way we could go off and leave her; so we had to miss the race. Praise the Lord, she is doing better now. We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the race banquet in Jan/Feb.

Had a great time with the Slanted Family. Great racing and tough racers. These kids are tough . Raced Mike in the first round and sqeeked by . Jack in the second round and sqeeked by . Third round double breakout between me and Lou and sqeeked by. Norm raced hard in the super pro and went many rounds on friday and saturday and his car was on kill. In the final I broke out against Norm it was so close could not lift. Racers this race had a 1700 Dollar purse thanks to Sothern Chemical and Textile and Drake Coatings. Next year maybe we can put together a 2000 dollar purse for this race. Killer Bees come and get you some of the east coast racers. Yall are welcome. Run what you brung hope you brung enuff. Thanks Ron Parker :D
