I need the bushing which connects the wiper arms to the motor under the dash... 1974 Scamp.

p/n 2580 929 went N/A long, long ago, with no replacement number. Starting in '73 or '74, they wanted you to buy the entire link arm with preinstalled bushing. You can get the link-to-pivot bushings, but not the motor-to-link bushing.

I fixed mine with a combination of washers, nylon spacers, and push on toy wagon axle keepers, all found at the hardware store drawers. Take the remains of the oem parts with your thinking cap to the hardware store, and spend a little time brainsorming in frontof those drawers, Something there will work for you. You might be able to make C clips work, if they do not have the wagon axle keeper caps. I think these things are used on lawn mowers and such as well. They look like a small hat with a speed nut up inside. A speed nut might work also. But you will need the washers and nylon spacers too.

The nylon spacer must go through the link, but over the pin on the cam. You may have to shorten them somewhat with a file. Your washers will be the size of the cam pin.

I don't remember how the 74 setup is. Is it like the setup on a 1980 Lebaron? I got all the bushing needed for the Lebaron, from the local dealer (in stock), last year.

Unfortunately, they are not the same. They look alike, but will not fit. That was the first thing I tried. They were also available on the "HELP" rack then.

Thanks for the help tracking down the part. They insisted on UPS, which raises the price a bit, but it will be good to have the right part.

I don't want to knock parts made from toy wagons and various hardware. I'm just taking the somewhat easier way out...

I was reading this post and looked up the part numbers in my 73 Parts catalog. 2580929 is listed for B, J model lines not the V, L that your scamp would be. My catalog lists a few different numbers based on 2 speed or three speed motor. But the in the picture they all look like the same plastic bushings you can get in the help section, even the one that connects the arm to the motor.

I'll be going through the same thing when I try and get mine back together. But I think the help bushings will work.

The reason why you didn't see 2580 929 in your '73 book is because after '72, they stopped listing the motor-to-link bushing as a separate service part for A-bodies. The bushing is the same through '76, but starting in '73, they wanted you to buy the whole link with preinstalled bushing. Parts lookup is not always as simple as it might seem. And the motor-to-link bushing is not the same as the link-to-pivot bushings.

I just pulled a 1974 wiper set out of the 'shed' to look at, and the bushings are similar, but differ in the fact that the motor/link one has a little ridge of plastic on one side to snug into the notch in the hole in the link...

I know that Dormann handles the 'Help' line of parts and always is on the look out for 'what can we make some $$$ on...this would be a common part that maybe we should suggest to them to make some repops of (and the casting mold isn't too dis-similar from the other bushing die...

I ordered pn 02580929 and tried to install what I got yesterday... That part is actually some kind of retaining clip, not a bushing. The only possible bushing replacements I had were rubber bands and that worked for about two minutes. :-)

So I'm back at square one, except that I broke more bushings while messing with the wiper arms. I did find one intact bushing with a number on it...

32188100 or 32188 100

It looks like this bushing should work everywhere: motor to linkage, linkage to linkage, etc... Any ideas guys?

The wipers just stopped in my service van, and the link fell off the plastic bushing...Got a 1998 Dodge Van?...gotta buy the whole wiper assembly as one unit... $134.99

Sheesh, somebody would make some $$$ if they just could repop the frangible service parts...
