Post subject:  who?

Who thinks there car could benefit from a stainless turbo exhaust and a sheet aluminum blowthrough 4 barrel intake. Tell me why you should be the one I sponser and you could end up with a new exhaust and intake, both are hand built and one of a kind. We are looking for someone that is serious about buiding power and taking the slant six to a higher level. Good luck. Jaggersfabrication

I would love to try it, but I just don't have the coin to build a motor for turbocharging. :( :(

James,

I want a turbo header, but I would want my turbo header a little different than what you've built as I'm building a low deck (170 block) stroker and I want the front and rear 3 cylinders separate up to the divided turbine inlet. Since I'm a road race kinda guy I'm not going to give up any low end or midrange if I can help it. A divided turbine and header pays dividends in boost and response and really isn't difficult to build.

I haven't seen enough of the sheet metal intake to know if it's something I'd want. I've designed my own EFI intake and I'm tooling up to start fabricating. I also have an Offy intake and Turbonetics carb hat if it comes down to that.

Post subject:  Turbo Set-up

James
I had not really thought of Sponsership. We (my wife Cinda) and I are up and coming Drag Racers. We live in east central Arkansas (1 hour from Memphis) we have mild winters which will allow us to TNT year around. We also have a priviate track 1 mile away( think Crop Duster Air strip) that we have unlimited access to.
We have 5 slant 6 powered cars 3 are race only. Two of the race cars are currently without an engine. I am in the process of working up 2 engines on paper and collecting parts, My plan is one was not to be NA however I had not decided which boost I was going to use.
We are both available to travel to races and plan to attend a least 6 slant races next season.
If you have any further questions Pm or call 870-298-2276
Thanks
Frank & Cinda Brent

I love testing new stuff. :D
I am also the type that does not give-up after having to pick-up all the broken parts off the ground.

Hey, the autopsy is critical to the process!

I am very interested in this. I have 3 Slant cars I race, one is race only.

I have a T4 turbo in hand, a motor set up for it (tailored Mike Jeffrey head) and MP-EFI on the car already. I have a small intercooler, but will get a larger one as I put things together. I have been gearing up for a turbo for about 3yrs now, but my other projects (Project V racecar, T5 swap...) have taken precedence but are in great shape now.

If the intake can be made with injector bungs, and I can send you a flange for the 66mm TB I will be using, then the intake would be great too.

The exhaust is the real kicker for me right now, and your turbo header would do extremely nicely. I talked with Ron Parker and saw his piece, which looked great.

I'd be happy to talk on the phone or by email. I'll PM you with my contact info.

Thanks much,

Lou Madsen

It depends on the design. I prefer EFI, like Lou, so I'd rather see an intake built for EFI than a four barrel. You could do some pretty interesting things with a sheet metal intake design. I'm not going back to carburetors.

A stainless steel header would be great. I'd want to work with you on the specs, though, because I've got a specific vision of what the ultimate turbo slant six header would look like. I'm thinking a 6-into-2-into-divided turbo housing header with expansion joints, designed so the turbo is supported by a brace and not the header. It's actually a bit like Joshie's idea.

Now, here's what you will get if you sponsor me.

1. I will be dyno tuning this motor, so you can publicize how much power it makes. I'll pit it up against my current setup, a reworked Clifford and a stock type iron manifold. So if you build me a good piece, I can show everyone just how much better your design is than the options currently on the market.

2. I'm in Georgia too, so I can go to the same drag events as Ron Parker and we can give racers the sight of *two* Jaggers Fabrication Darts running against each other - or teaming up to stomp V8s.

I guess James wants to go faster on this than I could do this year. Iost a job got sick in the summer and brother past way . Sometimes things change and life throws a curve at you. We are also promoting Slant races for next year. we got slowed down but we are not discourgaged. James if you want to go faster on this project I will ship the exhuast manifold you built for me to some one else. Just PM me Thanks Ron Parker :D

Ron, I'm pretty sure James has no issues with you, he is just looking for someone to do an intake and exhaust. You're doing the exhaust only and using a cast intake, right? :D :D :D :D

Yea going to try a Clifford first then a Offy and see where this goes. I know James wants to fast track this we just kind of hit a slow down period. You understand been there done that. Thanks Bagel your racing friend Possum :D

Im still planning to go the carb route (which is the way James setup is for) so if it fits a eddy carb or even holley that would work for me. Im not too sure of EFI yet (stopped working on cars when they all went EFI). LOL
As some other posters have said Ron and I will travel in the same racing circles. I havent wieghed any of the cars yet but thats an easy thing to do.
Its nice being retired and being able to travel.
Thanks
Frank

I built that header for you. I want you to follow through with your plans. I do not want you to give your header away. I am wanting to try the intake and the header in conjunction. I may build an intake with bungs for fuel injection since I am using blowthrough. I just want to try different things. I know there is not alot available for the slants. The header may be built for the dual inlet t-4. I have a open flange turbo like Rons. I do not want you to give up your goals and I do not want you to think I have given up on you because I have not. I just want people to try things that are different. Maybe if we work together we can find the best combinations for these often overlooked engines.

What kind of intake are you building (I just kinda poke in and out of the forum)? I was going to build a log style for my turbo set-up, I think you need to have same cubic inches in you log and at the end have the tb on the intercooler side with bungs in smaller tubes going into the head. However, maybe the log has no benefits (except a little simpler) for a turbo set-up.
