Not positive that this is the right place to post this, and if it's not, please feel free to move it.

That said, I searched around in the archives here a bit and couldn't find the answer, so here I am...I know Clifford Performance had been making a reproduction Hyper Pak intake for the slant six for awhile, but I just looked on their website a bit ago and noticed it's no longer shown in the slant six section. From what I've read, they're not the best company to deal with anyway, but what's the deal? Did they quit making it because not enough people were buying it, or what?

They had a quantity of them all ready to go according to one magazine article, the sad part comes when a few people ordered these 'hot and ready to install' intakes and got them...with casting bubbles and scabs, and thin areas in the runners (aka vacuum leaks ready to happen). When they wanted to 'trade the poor castings' in for another good one, they got a 'NO'...or in some cases they weren't treated with a nice 'sure we'll refund your money'....

I never dealt with clifford the direct way since this has been happening regularly for the last decade...I got my two Hpak intakes through ebay (a nice early version), and one through a member who is moving on to other interests (a late not so great casting, but good enough to use EFI on...).

I have had 2 HP intakes that I bought from people who lost interest before they used them. Be patient and hope one turns up on the 'Net. :D

Ouch, sounds like they're worse than I thought. I'd always read that Clifford was extremely slow to ship, but I didn't realize the casting quality was so poor as well. Any chance Doug Dutra will start making them himself again, or find another manufacturer to do so?

Would there be any possibility of buying them back and reselling them to some other company that would do a better job with the castings? I'd really like to do an EFI Hyperpak, and the EFI cars I've seen around here are just more inspiration, but I'll be darned if I'm gonna hack up my factory Hyperpak intake to do it! :shock:

I thought the technology was really old and out of date for the HyperPak????
Did I hear wrong?
I would think that the time would be better spent on a better design intake or a NEW HEAD !!!! :D :D :D :twisted:

The Hyper Pak intake is not a good street manifold. It's not really a very good race manifold. It does look way cool though. :lol: :lol:

Oh, now, I don't know that I'd agree with that. Seems to me some people are running it with good results. It all depends on the kind of racing you intend to do, and what the rest of the engine & car buildup looks like.

I dont know about the RESULTS .......BUT most of the racers Ive seen on this coast are using the Offy intake :?
Ill tell you more on first hand experience about this time Next year. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I think as a carbed intake it's not the 'best choice' for street, but using a dry manifold MPEFI setup 'theoretically' should change that...

I'll try not to post too much technical data since I don't have the actual experience to back it up, but I can tell you what I learned from my dad, which was that the Hyperpak intake could be made to work fairly decently on the street if heat was added to it. He created a box on the bottom of the intake right under where the carb mounted and plumbed engine coolant through it--the added heat made fuel precipitation much less of a problem, which increased drivability. Without that heat, that intake is so long that the fuel wants to precipitate out in the runners--this makes me think that a Hyperpak manifold combined with MPFI would work quite well, since you'd still have the tuned length runners, but since the fuel would be injected right at the intake port of the head (or very close to it), precipitation would no longer be a problem.
