I've been asked to put up something about my way of doing a screen trap for the radiator. I've thought it was pretty much self-evident but I made up a photo and description album in Flickr for a friend, so here 'tis if you need it .............. Radiator trap |

Neat idea, and simple, thanks for sharing! I wouldn't have thought debris that size could get past the themostat. Steve |

Hi, Ilooked at the slide show of the trap. Is it made of wire window screen? How do you wrap it to make the "plug"? |

Howdy, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on your questions. This is rather a busy time of year for me, 60+ hour weeks 'til mid-January. Yes, it's window screen. The wire sort (not the plastic) and galvanized if possible. Just roll a flat sheet into a cone by overlapping it from the center point of a circle out along a radian. Makes one side three layers thick but doesn't allow any "leaks". The screen can be worked a bit into sort of a condom shape. Actually rather appropriate at that .... I make it long enough to rest inside the tank, clear of the upper tube, in order to allow for plenty of working surface area. |
