I am planning on replacing my exhaust, wondering what mufflers give a nice sound when running. What have you used and what did it sound like? I am looking to make my duster sound less like a sewing machine. I would like a flowmaster type sound, a bit of rumble and bit more on accleration.

well i got to say a turbo mufflers are nice they have a rumble at idle and get quiet as you are cruising i got a summit turbo muffler on my truck and it sounds great but its a V8 and a chevy(summit said it would give me 21 more horses and i got more power with a flat spot in the mid range ) but i've herd that the cherry bomb turbo muffler sounds good on a slant.
just no bean cans please.

I've got a Thrush glass pack on mine, and it sounds GREAT.

Had a turbo muffler on it and it sounded plain, not mean enough.

I've heard some that some people like Flowmasters, and some hate them.

I have the Thrush FlowMaster 40 copy for $29.00 from Jeg's or Summit.
It has a pretty sweet sound. :D
I get allot of compliments.......
It is very well built fully welded muffler. Good value for the price. :)

check out this link its a slant with a flowmaster
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTrcjWtk0w0

but heres the thing flowmasters are great mufflers (flowmasters cost $$$ :x ) but most of my friends with old cars out here ether run turbo or glass packs because we are broke hot rodders. but i read some were that a turbo muffler flows more than a glass pack

one question is this car hot? or is it a stocker? or race car?

"This is a new exhaust system on a modified Plymouth Duster. This car has a dual 2.25 exhausts, clifford headers, dual Flowmaster 40 series mufflers, Offy 4 barrel intake, 264 cam and Edelbrock Per... "

This is the information that he's posted with the video.

And, as far as flow, according to the info on Cherry Bomb's site, their turbo flows the worst, and the glasspack is one less than the best flow. Of course, you could go with the best, but it's like $60 more.

Walker super hemi turbos for me.True, the flowmaster and borolas flow better but there just too loud for a "driver".I think there the best compromise for street performance.

ok,
thanks for the advice, i am always looking for the best bang for the buck, i am also a broke hot rodder! I like the idea of the summit generic muffler for 30 bucks! When i said "flowmaster type" i just meant i wanted a nice rumble so the car sounded more like it looks (my car is bright yellow with black stripes and a gull wing spoiler with rally wheels). Everyone assumes my car has a 340, i get so sick of having to expain that i dont need a 340, i just like to drive my car. But anyway, i would like it to sound a bit more throaty and have the best flow (i am installing a super six setup at the same time). I cannot afford to put on the dutra duals or a would buy them. I will be going with the original super six manifold into 2 1/4 pipe.

The Borla makes a great sound on a 440. I think Summit has their copy of it too. Better sound than a Blow master.

No idea Ted. I haven't seen a catalogue in a year or two. There is a thread within the last few days discussing the Borlas on Moparts.
