Post subject: | temp gauge issues |
hi again all! i installed a new temp sensor but i still have a dead temp gauge? what am i doing wrong and what eles could it be? i have noticed fog in my gauges and i do have a water leak from the front right wiper arm. .....werking on that this week. sux to be restoring an everyday driver. |

One day when you don't need to drive it, you can pull the instrument cluster and see if the connection from the plug to the gauge has corroded, rusted, or broken... (Seen that on many A-body clusters...) -D.Idiot |

A good test is to diconnect the temp sender at the engine and connect a 12V incandescant test light in its place - the light should blink brightly about 1/sec (after it warms up a for 30sec or so) and the gauge should read around LO or so (although that depends a lot on the test light). If you don't see the light blink, but your gas guage works, there's an open somewhere in the limiter-gauge-sender line, most probably right at the bulkhead connector. |
