Post subject:  neoprene axle seals for 1965 valiant?

Hi

I have to replace the axle seals on a 1965 Valiant. I think that the differential is called the 7 1/4 inch since it has 9 inch drums. The original seals are some "natural fiber" I would like to replace those crappy things with neoprene seals. Does anyone know where I could get such a thing?

Thanks

NAPA had them two years ago when I replaced mine. There was some confusion with the NAPA part number application at that time, so make sure they are clear on the model.

I got the seals.

Did you put a bit of gear oil on the seal or did you install them dry?

In this case, I gave them to the mechanic who replaced the axle bearings and did some other work.

I don't know if it's required, but I always apply some lube to neoprene seals when I install them myself. It just seems logical to not have dry surfaces rubbing against each other.
